Ex-employee threatens Legal Action

An ex-employee is threatening lawsuit, who claims the company owes him $125,000 before he was fired. You are the accountant and you know that the accounts are in mess.
You find that actually the employee owes $25,000 to the company. You are eager to avoid the lawsuit and offer him to retain $25,000.
The ex-employee does not agree and insists he will go ahead with the lawsuit.
